Lashing
To ensure the safety and value of your goods for export or transport, it is important to take the due diligence of lashing or securing in order to prevent damages, defects and theft. Inadequately secured project cargo poses numerous risks during transportation, whether by rail, road or sea. It is our aim to make certain that goods are handled, stored and moved effectively through all phases. Through various lashing and stevedoring techniques the cargo is secured to prevent movement forwards, backwards and sideways along with the further extreme movements experienced on the high seas such as pitching, rolling and yawing. Along with prioritising the safety of the cargo, effective lashing can assist with handling goods safely, eliminate double handling, and importantly prevent incidents in the workplace.
This method of cargo securing enlists the use of wooden beams or blocks to support and form a protective barrier, this may be required during packing so as to be able to stack or secure. It is also a requirement on all container exports in order to further prevent against movement. All timber used is treated in accordance with IMO regulations as required.
Goods in storage & transit are continually exposed to the elements. To prevent against weather conditions, rust exposure, dirt and other external factors an effective tool that is used is heat power shrink wrapping. By opting for this added layer of protection one can minimise the risk of cosmetic damage, and prevent against moisture damage to vital components. Other methods we suggest for covering cargo for storage and transport include our tarpaulins or industrial micron plastic. We do offer bubble wrap, shrink wrapping and palletising for LCL/FCL loads during packing and lashing to prevent against damage to sensitive parts.
Not all cargo is handled and stored the same. It is key to understand the nature of the cargo so that delivery of goods is executed with the utmost care.
